Fiesta mk7 starting issues

Seeking expertise please. My son’s fiesta mk7 intermittently fails to start. Turn the key and nothing but a short quiet hum noise. Garage replaced the clutch switch but still have problem. The ignition relay clicks so that seems okay. And suddenly, for no apparent reason, it just starts as if nothing is wrong. Really weird.

I had all of these symptoms on my MK7 and had to replace the starter motor. All fine afterwards

Exactly the same for me- symptom of a failing starter motor. Luckily, when it finally failed for good the car was at home.
