Retro-fitting insulated plasterboard around rad pipework

Hi all,

So I'm fitting insulated plasterboard along some walls which have two small radiators. I don't want to move the pipes but with the insulated plasterboard they'll be very limited space for air gap between the rad and the wall (I think it's about 2cm from the edge of a small sample to the start of the rad pipe).

What's the best approach, least bodge way to deal with this? I'm thinking of just using normal plasterboard for the area behind the rads with some low-expanding foam and some soudal easy. The brackets could connect to their old holes in the brick wall this way.

Most rads come with wall mounts that can change the distance from the wall to the back of the rad

Flip the brackets and you could push the rad further from the wall

Then the issue will be your rad tails

All my rads are fitted with the short side 90 deg to the wall but they are almost all big doubles

If you’re going to the trouble of fixing insulated boards and I’m guessing having them skimmed wouldn’t it be worth the effort to go the extra mile and have insulation behind the rad as well where it’s needed? Some dog legs where the tails come through the floor and Rigifix fasteners to secure the brackets.

Thanks for the replies, I think I've got a solution. I just realised that there was lime plaster on the brick, so I'm removing this and this should give me enough space (it might be a squeeze though.)
