My son and his buddies, while at soccer practice this summer, saw this red sports car that they had never seen before. After coming back from practice he tried to describe it to me. From his description, I couldn't make out what it was. I thought that it was some type of kit car.
Let me stop and say that we live quite close to the Blackhawk/Behring Auto Museum in northern California (see: www.blackhawkauto.org) so we are quite accustomed to seeing all types of Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porsches (including the Carrera GT), Ford GTs, 427 Cobras (and their replicas), Lotus Elises, Vipers, Aston Martins, Bentleys, etc in the area. Also, as most of the kids play some sort of Playstation racing game, they are quite familiar with the various exotics running aroud today (his buddies debate the various merits of the Koenigsegg vs the Bugatti Veyron).
I thought that what he had seen was a Noble as there are a few around, but I'm pretty sure that he's never seen one before. He described the car as having a rooftop air intake and a "round hole" in the back.
Well today, I'm sitting at a traffic light at this major intersection, when flashing through the middle of the intersection is this red GTR with yellow accents on the louvers(?) that are on either side of the air intake. I instantly knew that was the car he'd seen. When I got home, I showed him a picture from the factory and he identified it as the Ultima.
the funny part is that I've known about Ultimas for many years and have been a frequent lurker here. I never thought that anyone in my town would have one.
Now I just have to figure out how I can snare a ride in that monster.....

I'm not sure how you would get to see yellow inside the engine bay from cross-intersection traffic. I have a red GTR with yellow fuel tanks that just show though the side screens - but that is down at the side, not the top grills next to the top air intake.
Even if you have a yellow engine block, that would be hard to see as the car goes past in traffic.
Anyway, I'm in Minnesota. If someone has a red GTR with yellow fuel tanks in Northern California, I'd love to meet them since I thought I was the only nutter who painted their fuel tanks anything other than black.
