I had a new mohair roof fitted to my Griffith a couple of years ago, and as the car lives in a garage it still looks like new. Water still beads off it, presumably due to whatever the fabric is treated with when it was made. I tend to just wash it with water.

I used to treat my old roof with Fabsil from time to time; is it worth doing the same to the new(ish) roof to help preserve it, or just leave it alone until waterproofing looks to be diminished?

I would not bother personally if the car only ever sees fine weather.

If it looks alright leave it.
Having owned a few cars with black mohair roofs I think too much cleaning with soft top cleaner can start making the hood lose it’s nice dark blackness and fade. When I do mine I either use the Autoglym kit or the American brand Raggtopp mohair cleaner and protector but limit it to once a year.
Try and avoid cleaning the top in the hot sun because whatever you use will dry too quick and leave marks.
