You'd think that they would be more careful.

Yeah looks to have been doing a straight line for hours at 16kts prior to hitting the stationary (at anchor?) Stena vessel.

The coastguard has its plane and helicopter up from Humberside and every tug from Hull is currently making their way to the fire. Theres a large offshore supply vessel which is equipped with fire equipment alongside.

I’d expect to see the OSRL spotter get airborne and a 727 take off from Southend at some point today if oil is likely to be spilled once the SAR operation is complete.

Stena Immaculate and Solong...the Immaculate was apparently at anchor, carrying jet fuel.

Both ships abandoned, the Immaculate is on fire.

The last change of course and speed of the vessel was 0130-0150UTC before making contact.

What was the visibility like at that time?

Seems incredible it can have happened....but then again...people are involved, so nothings impossible!

A good friend of mine works in the windfarms nearby and is offshore today, its not looking good at all, obviously a huge emergency response from the coast guard and nearby supply ships / support vessels - lets hope for the best case scenario.

Madness that this sort of this can happen. Not as if they're small objects travelling quickly.

The environmental impact will be significant I imagine.

Reports suggest that the tanker is Stena Bulk’s 49,700-dwt tanker Stena Immaculate (built 2017), said to be laden with a cargo of jet fuel.

The container vsl is only a little feeder.

The cargo on the tank means it is going to be hard to get under control

Humberside airport was reporting fog at the time of the incident.

That’s a good thing. Will burn off and limit the environmental impact on wildlife.

That’s both ships. The tanker is ablaze with the cargo ship wedged in the side off it.
