Can anyone help identify this? My daughter is in the middle of clearing the garden of their recently purchased house and they found this buried under a bush at the end of the garden.

Inside we found this:

Google lens suggests it might be gas cylinder related, but they are on mains gas so I wonder if this is a left over from a previous installation?

It's right next to a very overgrown pond so we did also wonder if it might be a pump for that.

hehe Well it is in Normandy (Surrey) so that could almost be true. I don't think they have plans to excavate it yet though and I did suggest not to have a bonfire too close to it.

Bump for the weekday crowd, the PH wisdom base is normally pretty good at identifying obscure items.

Gas supply valves?

Edit: Doh, sorry, you had already worked that out.

You should be able to get a map of gas infrastructure on application from the local shipper, on the premise you’re about to start digging in the immediate area.

And PH delivers smile Thank you, that's what it appears to be, strange that Google Lens couldn't find it but an image search did!

It's towards the back of their garden and appears to be quite rusty, if it's the responsibility of the gas transporter then they might want to come and check it.

I will let my daughter know, thanks once again Tim Cognito thumbup
