Cost to reroof a single garage?

Having never had to do any roof based work before, our garage roof needs redoing.

Its a detached single garage and it needs new ply and then rubber over the top. Has anyone had anything similar done recently? I have had a quote from the builder we use, and I have no idea if its high or what to expect?

I had my pitched tiled roof replaced on my single garage a year or so ago.

Also included replacing the lead flashing on our conservatory but came in at 3k.

I also got to keep a tonne of the new spare timber battens which was proabably £150 worth.

I had mine done in Sarnafil which is good and not too expensive.
I’ll try and find the invoice.

My father in law had his done last year. New boards and GRP for around £3k.

This is not a difficult job to DiY!

Strip the old roof covering, lay a new deck...sterling board is cheaper and just as good as plywood, lift your roll of EPDM onto the roof and lay out so it is tolerably square, roll up from one end to the centre, apply the goo and roll the rubber down the roof, repeat for the other end, trim the edges and apply angle trim as needed.

Not sure of all the technical terms or whether it even helps for comparison, but.....

We had our flat roof done over our lounge and study (probably about the size of a double garage) last summer. New boards, new insulation, new felt for £3.3k.

Didn't seem too bad a prices to me.....

We are waiting for the roofer to come back to reroof the garage (double), £4k is the quite.

This is completely untrue. Sterling board is st by comparison and nothing like as good as plywood. Pay for and get plywood.

We did my lads garage , all diyable with a kit from wickes , all the old wood went into a hippo bag and i think it cost less than a grand .

We have had one quote of £3500 in rubber and waiting on a different person to quote who was keen on fibreglass over rubber?

If fibreglass it needs OSB to get a good grip - plywood is the worst thing to use.
I’d go epdm all day long - our grp flat roof failed in several places due to poor application.
Epdm is bulletproof if it’s stuck down and trimmed properly.

The second person came back to me, who is a dedicated roofer, first person was a builder who has roofers.

He has quoted about £800 less doing it in Fibreglass and using OSB etc. as mentioned above. Think we will go with him and get it sorted.

OSB 3 in 18mm is perfectly useable as a roof deck on a garage, and actually better than CDX ply.

Mine was about £1,500 a couple of years ago, which included dealing with the old asbestos roof.

I had mine done by a fantastic company this January. My neighbour had hers done at the same time as they are joined. I'm in the SE. I can't remember the exact number it was either 2100 or 2400 including asbestos removal and disposal properly and VAT.

Garage is a lot drier too the humidifier doesn't have to work so hard

Maybe so, but you can say that about many jobs where you don’t have the skill set to do the job.
