Odd e-mail issue - content changed
Discussion
In Dec my SIL sent my wife an e-gift voucher for a sports shop. She hasn’t spent it and today went into check it.
The e-mail shows in her inbox, but when she opens it the body of the e-mail is a marketing message from Oxfam. The senders e-mail address is correct, but the reply to is an Oxfam address.
We’ve checked on a laptop (her work laptop so fully up to date antivirus etc) as well as her phone and it is the same.
She is adamant that when she received the e-mail the link to the gift voucher was there - and she clicked through to the site.
She has TFA enabled and there is no odd activity on her account - we changed the password just in case.
She spoke to the sports shop and the voucher hasn’t been spent.
Any ideas on what has happened? It’s Yahoo mail in case that is relevant.
Short version - how can the content of an e-mail in someone’s inbox get changed?

If the body of the email is served from a web site (or another internet based server) and they've repurposed that page/content, then the email will appear to have changed. It's quite possible that the provider has re-used the voucher/offer site for a new campaign.
