Late to the party and getting accommodation within a reasonable distance and cost seems a massive wallet drained(As expected) Dubious standard of accommodation and little near shuttle bus locations have priced up a motorhome to go from Friday and leave Monday am. Got a vision that will e able to walk to seating area and have options for many of the festival attractions without having to drive in/out each day and celebrate (Lewis win) or drown sorrow's.
Plan would e to hire motorhome locally (south Yorkshire) and M1 to arrive about 8-9 pm Friday night and return home on Monday a.m. 2 people in a 4 berth with most mod cons-. Son doing all driving so not a concern for me. Can load Motorhome up with extras we might need before setting off.
Am I going to be disappointed, any tips, things to take/ do .- tickets will be for covered seating area -any suggestions
Bike carrier on back of hire van -worth taking them?

Grateful for any opinions positive or negative

Where do you intend to park it for the weekend?
Bicycles aren’t allowed in the circuit perimeter over the weekend so I assume you’ll only be using them to commute from your parking location?

“On site” means what? Where? Are you thinking of booking one of the campsites around the circuit that take motorhomes? Your original post said you thought accommodation costs were high. Renting a motorhome and then paying to park it up isn’t going to be cheap.

On site meant the campsite advertised on Silverstone website. Now only Arden Paddocks with any vacancies £900 for any no of nights upto 4 people per pitch all pitches include electric Now found one 1km or 2km walk to get in(depending on gate) £450 for 3 nights including electrics.
Yes not cheap but know what I'm getting with motorhome and don't have to be concerned about getting into site- found amex package that 's 3 nights Hamilton Straight ( sold out on Siverstone site)with accommodation at Northampton Ibis central includes bus transfer for £2.6k. (2 adults)
Room looks smaller than van(has awning external table etc inc.) with uninspiring dining and bar area. Coan go out but pub just down road from campsite.
1st timer don't know area just have to take a chance.

I do know the area. I live here. I’m guessing the campsite you quoted at £450 is Silverstone Farm Campsite in which case it’s a good option. They operate a shuttle bus service that’ll drop you within a 20 minute walk of Copse. To be fair the campsite is only 40 mins walk anyway - plus you could go home via the pub that serves food. Have you checked to see if Hamilton Fields ( about 400 metres further away) has space?

Spot on.
Recommendation from another regular Silverstone customer was a must have - covered stand- it was already high on our list .Presume field wont be covered
Done a full list of covered stands with costs for 3 day pass. His recommendation was for Club corner already selected plus Abbey B both opposite pit lane. Just waiting for son to have a look at. I'm ready to book.
Lost interest In F1 until last year, lot more competition so hope its going to live upto expectations
Thanks for your input
