Looking to restore the audio back to original and struggling to find an original radio, seems to be mostly old but with new tech but would like to keep it period correct.

If anybody can point me in the right direction would be much appreciated.

What are you looking for in terms of tech?

I am not a massive fan of these "retro" head units, I always think a period correct Alpine/ Sony/ Pioneer looks much better, despite not having bluetooth etc.

I'd get a Blaupunkt Bremen. Looks period correct but has all the bluetooth, USB, DAB+, SD card etc that you may want today

If you Want it 100% original, I'd start with a brochure/price list from the cars model year when new. That will have the factory optional radios etc
Then just do a weekly search on eBay.

What year is it?

This looks like a good option so will keep it in mind but ideally want a period correct one, it's not a daily so happy to not have all the tech.

I don't think I have a brochure/price list for it, its an 89 mk2, its a blaupunkt radio from what I have seen but not clear on the exact model

All 89 models came as standard with a Panasonic radio cassette by the looks of it.

That takes me back. I had an 89 Polo as well as a student and that ICE looks very familiar.

I replaced it with one of those pull out ones to avoid the risk of the car getting done over as was the thing in those days - before that I used to remove it with the 2 cut off coat hanger tools and unplug every time I left it (which was only once a week or so).
