My EGR is eventually leaking
Discussion
Rant alert
G30 530d with a known EGR problem for most of the 5y Ive had it from new
Several trips to the dealer for software flashes and inspections usually with a nice courtesy car (thanks) but always with disruption to my work diary
Today iDrive tells me its goosed so I phone up the local dealer who says they can replace ASAP on any day of my choice whilst also suggesting it could go 'pop' at any moment
Unfortunately I need the car for work plus commitments this weekend and guess what theres unlikely to be a courtesy car at short notice
Ive been a BMW nerd since running a fantastic E30 325i back in the day with several iconic models up until the current diesel family shed
To say Im unimpressed is an understatement. They have had the car on several occasions when they could have done the work but didnt. As far as I am concerned this is on BMW UK not my local dealer, or so they say........
With options the car cost as much as I paid for my first house. Now the lads have left home its just us and the dog so a M340i Touring is a logical replacement however Im loath to spend any more in view of my recent experience of customer service. My car also has the frozen door glitch which isnt uncommon on Bimmerworld however this has been fobbed off as well. By way of explanation the rear door seals have a rep for being leaky leading to the rear doors freezing shut when the temp drops below freezing which it does in Leeds from October to May

Rant over. Apologies for lack of swearing.
Regrettably Im now looking at a Merc estate or SUV as replacement. Please dont tell my mates
Cheers
Yes my G31 30d had EGR cooler issues, which the dealer further effed up by not reattaching the coolant line(s) correctly.
Quite honestly, BMWs are absolutely fine if owner maintained, but relying on incompetent dealers for work doing on pretty much any German car these days, is risky business.
I don't think your experience will improve much switching brands tbh, but enjoy
