Having not learnt from previous mistakes I have a feeling I'm about to be screwed over by EDF

Year or two back they screwed up my bill. New amount became 30k a year and they tried to take 2.5k from my bank account. Obvioudly it was completely wrong, add that to the woeful service where they never admitted an issue I finally got it resolved with £50 compensation.

I moved to a new tariff last year in Feb, they spent 4hrs fitting a smart meter. Sometime in August it stops working for electric but ga and my billing was impacted. Meters both still work though. Contact EDF with multiple calls and whatsapp and provide a meter reading in oct/Nov.

Feb they email me a deal to move tariff and save money and they waive the exit fee. Sounds good so i did that.

Received bill today and actually open it for a change and it's gas only still and not on the new tariff. Call up to ask about tariff issue and nothings been done and agents says you've not been paying electric since August that I will need to pay. My bills been around 165 a month for a 3bed house and 3 people so didnt seem like I was being charged for half the supply.

How are they so useless? In my company we have reports of someone regularly paying and then not paying that should be a call to action. After the first issue I should have learnt my lesson and gone elsewhere.

Any idea of what options I'd have. Should I push them to waive some/all charges or is that likely to be futile? Worth raising a complaint to regulators as well?

Well, this guy apparently had all his accounts compromised and emptied thanks to EDF and they offered him £50, so you’ll probably do well to get 50p from them!

You should be able to see on their website what they think you're using, what you're being billed, what credit balance you have etc.

It may be that you've been paying the same DD but they've not billed you for it, and you have a big credit balance to use.

I would start by finding out what they think you've been using/paying, and then go from there.

First thing is to work your account out, so you know exactly what you've used and what you owe them.
