Speccing a Homura
Discussion
After reading ECOTY and the excellent placement of the MX5, I am tempted to buy one, but I was wondering what kit to add.

Any idea if the EVO car was on the lowering suspension kit or had other additions (e.g. sports exhaust) that are considered necessary to enhance the driving experience?

I've got one incoming. I've gone with the stock Homura. Most of the factory options are just cosmetic, the lowered springs might do something but I've watched a zillion vids and everyone seems to love the drive just as the car comes, never seen anyone say it needs any of the mods.
After market stuff is different of course but I'm not even going to look at that till I've enjoyed the car for a while.

Thank you. I think I will also go with standard After market stuff is different of course but I'm not even going to look at that till I've enjoyed the car for a while.

I think you'll love it. We bought one last year and with the standard Bilstein's, mechanical LSD and Brembo brakes its a great drive.
It replaced an Abarth 124 Spider and its so much better in every way for our purposes. Some might say the exhaust is too quiet but its a welcome change, to us, after the raucous Monza exhaust on the 124.

I bought my standard Homura new last July and didn’t plan to modify it. It doesn’t need it. But there’s something about an MX5 which makes you personalise it. Any spec you add is dealer fit so you can do it over time - my lowering springs are going on in a couple of weeks, and I’ve already had the alcantara dash and door cards fitted. I’ve got a couple of non-factory mods too (stubby aerial, MX5things window controller, tuned sound tube - not yet fitted - and a wrap and 6UL alloys). All easily reversible but they make it mine and a bit more unique.

Not surprised you found it a welcome change. I ran a Spider as a long-termer for evo. Raucous indeed! It replaced an Abarth 124 Spider and its so much better in every way for our purposes. The best tweak I did was to fit a Quantum back box that just gives an aural improvement to the experience. The stock is awful quiet and breathless.
They're very good out of the factory in all other regards. When it's out of warranty a mild ECU tweak is on the cards just to liberate the engine from its emissions based compromises.
