Anyone know anywhere nearby that'll make an acrylic plate up? Just wasted £20 on a metal back Halfords one that has failed on drilling (rubbish plastic coating blows when you drill it)

Dealer supplied one did exactly the same.

Have no desire to order from a dodgy online shop.

Just checking, is it a plastic protective coating they put on to prevent it getting scratched in the shop, and your supposed to peel it off when you fit the plate?

No, that was white.

They seem to have a yellow metal back, then press the letters (printed on a clear plastic film) onto the back.

When you drill a hole through the plate (required) the plastic film comes away from the backing around the hole.

It looks st.

Really disappointed in it actually - previous plates from Halfords have been decent acrylic items.

https://fancyplates.com/Buy-Plates/standard-uk-pla...

https://www.platesforcars.co.uk/designer.php

Both offer standard UK plates with all the manufacturer details on the bottom, both have been very good quality in my experience, neither have had any issues when drilled (slowly and carefully, from the front to the back).

Delivery is something like £7 so a set of plates is around £35.

Arrival usually in under a week, in my experience.
