So that's the first race with TV coverage on TNT Sports rather than Eurosport and:
1. They are no better than Eurosport at timing an ad break. Cover SC/VSC periods live? Check. Smoke starts filling cockpit of Mustang so cut to ad break? Check.
2. OK so ad breaks on Eurosport were often poorly timed but at least they were short. By god the TNT ones drag on though, only to be tailed by a 90s promo for some other TNT coverage - or at one point for their WEC coverage, the WEC coverage we weren't seeing because we were watching the frigging promo for it!

Let be honest this is about money and contracts, I very much doubt WEC stays on TNT, they simply bought the contract that Eurosport had. so to keep it on there.
Sky actually show a little bit of British GT (a woeful series that is almost dead to be fair) and stuff now and then whether they ,might be interested I don't know, depends on the cost I guess, WEC is becoming increasingly popular so it is a good time to try. But the TNT thing is simply about a pre-existing contract that has to go somewhere, it is very unlikely to be continued, it does not fit TNT at all. they are only really interested in football and buying bikes and cycling is simply a way of trying to get more people paying for the channels and thereby paying for football, the scale of what they spend is astonishing, Champs League is 1.5 billion over 5 years, I would think MotoGP, SBK cycling speedway, BSB and WEC probably cost l;ess than 20 per year

With 4 channels of TNT I reckon they’ll keep showing WEC, don’t think there’s much likelihood of it going from Discovery Plus, there’s loads of motorsport on there, in amongst all sorts of niche sports, Discovery Plus is a terribly designed platform, but the content is excellent.
TNT didn’t buy the WEC contract from Eurosport, Discovery (Eurosport) bought TNT (BT Sport).
And British GT isn’t almost dead at all.

I watched the ad free TNT sports stream. Worked fine, although there were a few promos for their other live sports.
How do you get an ad free TNT stream?Gassing Station | Le Mans | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
