Yes, but makes no difference if you do it today or 31/03 as will still expire 28/02/2026, so you may as well do it now.

Yes, it will just remind you your car is taxed and you maybe charged twice. However as it's zero rated no charge.

Cheers. I did it last month in case I forgot to redo it in March, which indeed I had. Refreshed again now. smile

Did mine a couple of days ago. Now the tax due date is reset to 1st March, it's helpful in a second way too - it's no longer due six days after Christmas, which matters more now it'll be ~£200.

Yeah did mine last night, 7 months saving. Anyone who does it whose tax was due in May this year is onto a ~£175 saving...

With the way DVLA can get a months double revenue at change of keeper time, or can SORN at any day in the month, but can only start tax from the 1st of the month, they've really dropped the ball on this one.

What's the chances of the Gov / DVLA spotting this and coming after the lost revenue when someone does the sums and realised they've missed out on £x million?

This is first time that I know of that they have retrospectively applied new VED rules so I wouldn't put it past them whether that's letters going out when the tax was originally due for the pro-rated difference or even them using specific wording on the website during the renewal as an excuse to send fines (for example, it does say that "if you have been asked to renew early by the DVLA then continue" - the inference then being that if you haven't been told to do this by the DVLA you should not continue?)

I know the press have jumped on this in a big way and are encouraging it but I don't know if I trust the Gov / DVLA not to try and get something out of it whether that's pro-rated VED or even fines...

Does it say anywhere, officially in black & white, that all EV drivers won’t have to pay the ‘standard’ car tax £195? from April the first?
I expect I missed it!
Eg all applicable EVs pay tax from April 1st
