Rented flat so cant really do much, just advising landlord who is helpful

When I moved in rad in bathroom did not work, valve was tricky and cap would turn it off, all others worked fine, that is now fixed and the lounge rad, a double now is lukewarm?

Are we chasing an airlock round or something, could be a dodgy valve again I guess? Also how long should you bleed a rad? Seconds, minutes?

Until the escaping air is replaced by water.

Sounds like the system needs balancing correctly so that all radiators work equally when all on.
You have unintentionally altered the balance by getting the bathroom one to work which has had the knock on effect on reducing the effectiveness of the lounge rad.
Balancing isn't difficult, but if the valves are old, they can leak when disturbed, so I suggest your landlord gets a plumber in so you don't become accountable.
As for bleeding a radiator, you open the bleed piece until water squirts out. That's it. The time depends on how much air is in the radiator and other factors I won't bore you with.

Close the valve down again on the one you altered to see if it helps, set it about 1/2 a turn out just to see if things improve.
Picture of the valves would help.

Bleed them. It's likely air in them. Make sure all your TRVs are on max, then fire the boiler up, make sure it's got about 1.3 to 1.5 bar of pressure on the dial, get the rads hots then go round the rads with a short stubby screwdriver in sequence from the boiler and slacken off the bleed valves usually on the top right corner. Have a dry cloth in your other hand. If water flows out straight away without any air or spluttering then the rad is fine, tighten it back up and move onto the next one in line. If it splutters or blows air, let it all come out until water flows constant without any spluttering. Once you've done them all, kill your boiler, top your water back up so your pressure is back to around 1.3 bar and then set your TRVs as required. Done. smile

Rads are very old possibly original, have not done any work on them, this is all from a plumber but he seems a bit useless sadly they have the plastic caps with a small button on the side whatever that means but it never works as paint etc has clogged it. Hopefully weather improves a little now so less of an issue I have heard noises about landlord replacing. No doubt with a rent increase lol

Just post pics of the bits that connect to and stick out of the rads. The bleed valves will be pointed out to you in 2 seconds.
