R57 cabrio roof opening issues

We have a 2009 Mini cabrio. We have an issue with the roof opening but ONLY in hot weather when the car is left standing in the sun; and we live in Spain so hot is the norm from May to October. On opening the roof jams against the roll bars and the end of the sequence. The roof is pulled toward the roll bars normally, but should stop short by a few cm. In our case, and again only in hot weather when left standing in the sun, it jams against. See the photos attached. You can see the roof jamming against the roll bar in the second image.
Before I try to take in apart and fix, no specialists here just BMW, would appreciate is anyone has any ideas.
