After the recent retirement thread the natural next event is your funeral. Not bothered about the service but music choices do interest me . Dad was a forces musician most of his working life and a teacher of brass instruments in his retirement and a life long involvement in brass bands , along with working with a multitude of stars over the years ,including recording with The Stranglers playing bass guitar . I had been exposed to all genres of music so my tastes a very varied.
My list of choice .
Nimrod played by the Central Band of the Royal Air Force
Funeral for a Friend. Elton John
Avè Maria sung by Kimmi Skotta and the Andre Rieu orchestra.
Evening Hymn played again by the Central Band of the RAF .
I request the RAF versions for two reasons ,they a very good versions and my father is playing on the recordings . It's a bit of a proud moment for our family whenever a recording that my father is on is played on the various media platforms.
So over to you lot , what's your choices ?

At my late father's cremation i requested;

And

He used to play the organ at church, and these two were favourites.

Whatever those attending want I guess, it's not like I'm going to be there on account of being dead.

The mrs wants Blackbird by the Beatles. I’ve told her go write it down somewhere then as I doubt I will be about like.

I think I would just want my favourite songs played, not for their meaning, just because those are what mattered to me and what I want to be remembered by. So it would be:

Metallica - Nothing Else Matters

Lyrnd Skynryd - Free Bird

Vivaldi - Summer, Four Seasons.

I'd probably need to get Wax's Shoulda Tried Harder in there somewhere.

Other than that, it's going to be a hefty whack of Jim Steinman.
