Keep well clear. Used on my lotuses (Evora) and damaged the paint. It was the most expensive/ high quality type and 4 layer, fully breathable. Cost about £300.

The issue is the car must be put away entirely dry and clean, so that the cover does not rub grit into the paint and the car can breath/ not sit damp and wet. The issue is what happens is the moisture condenses inside the cover, soaking it anyway, and the wind blows grit and dust up inside the over and causes genuine damage to the paint and body work. My paint actually blistered in a number of areas alongside the wear of the dust and grit. This was using the cover for around 5 days at a time.

Could any of the above not be avoided by putting the indoor cover on first as a protection.

I have a Stormsheild+ for my GT from here... https://www.specialisedcovers.com/

It has a fleece lining and fits very well. Recommended by a few McLaren owners.

Having said that - I don't really us it in the winter - you do need to have a clean and dry car before using any cover.

I normally use it after I've cleaned the car and want it to stay that way before a drive out the next day. Perhaps overkill but I use the car all year round so it's never clean/dry enough for a cover during the winter months.

I had a Stormshield from Specialised.

It was fine for about 4 years, then seemed to get fine sand inside somehow (maybe a really heave saharan storm?) and I noticed a 'dulling' of the lacquer on the edges the wind rubbed it against which I got out by hand.

It was good for the patio furniture for a year or so after, although it took the lacquer off the edges of that too!

I had the aforementioned covercraft on a DB9 outdoors for 10 years with no issues. I did ensure the paint was well polished and waxed, I think that makes a difference.
