Hi all, I’m currently driving a 718 GT4 clubsport but due to a young family and lack of a decent family car looking at M3 tourings as a replacement.

Had a look on autotrader at a few between £65-£70 located at main dealers. Has anybody got experience with haggling main dealers on used cars?

Not interested in the carbon seats/ultimate pack but would like a nice colour and preferably a light interior.

Car will be used as a family car, commuter and occasional track car.

Made offers on 2 used ones at main dealers, I’ve found there’s reluctance to move at all on advertised prices. A token gesture at most.

They would sooner sit on them and slowly drop the price every few weeks.

Found the same on most used BMW M stuff in the past, little margins in them for it to be too heavily reduced.

Depending on how you purchase if via PCP finance have you looked at new ?

I always find the lower used purchase price is offset by the higher APR (9.9% I think on BMW used) new M3s are 4.9% I think.

Tends to be a bit of negotiation on new aswell. New ones start c£80k

DriveTheDeal have secured 18% off new M3 touring orders if that's of interest? So from 72.5k for a brand new M3. Have been pretty tempted to chop the SUV in for one myself...!

I’ve not specifically looked at M3 touring, however my general experience with buying approved used M cars and X5s is that there’s usually not massive discounts off the screen price to be had, a few hundred at best. Even walking away in the hope they ring with a better deal hasn’t worked for me in the past. Now it could be that I’m just bad at negotiating!

If you are financing it's cheaper to buy a new one than a used one. 18% off and 4.9% APR

Very reluctant to move on the prices in my experience. After a F90 M5 and saw one advertised in November. Went down and made an offer a few weeks later. Still for sale 4 months later and the price moved up in January by 2k and now down by 3k.

I’ve just enquired properly , a lightly specced , by which I mean a cheaper colour and interior and a couple of bits was just over 77k but it’s 6 to 7 months delivery .
I’ll have to think about that as it’s quite a long wait .
Should have said that was druvethedeal .

Use the autotrader plugin (price tracker) and see the price movements and how long they have had it. Find one that has been around and make offers

I’ve managed to negotiate 1k off a Touring I’m looking at, which has been advertised for just over a month at a main dealer.

The negotiated price is within 700 quid of the price motorway.com spits out when I stick the reg in. That surprised me tbh.

Currently, it looks like quite a wait for a new one and AT has the fewest used cars for sale since I started following the market 6 months ago.

I don’t think How Many Left? can split out Tourings. Anyone know production numbers in the UK?

If you like Black and Blue there are 4 New on AT and 3 on the BMW stock website (although I think one is a duplicate with AT).

It seems after a glut of pre LCI cars the LCI's are less readily available right enough.

I specced the blue one almost exactly the same on drive the deal and it was 77k and a bit , but after a lot thought I can’t justify the price over a well specced invisible 340i touring for 58k by the same broker .
Both august to September delivery .
