We put an apple carplay screen in my daughters 2011 Fiat 500 Sport and immediately got the flashing mileage issue which is common on these.

I found a solution (or so I hoped) online here https://www.fiat500owners.com/threads/what-does-a-... about half way down the page saying put the car in accessory mode (is this ignition on in the UK?) and follow the instructions but to no avail.

Any Fiat experts on here know how to get rid of the flashing mileage on the car?

Thanks in advance.

It may just need a reset. Unfortunately, I can't remember what we had to do with my daughters.

Dealer-level software/cables were really cheap to do this..

Thanks, We’ve tried with a generic code reader and it didn’t sort so looking for guidance on the next stage.

The same situation as with Alfa's I believe. The canbus doesn't like the new head unit. When we changed the head unit on my son's Mito the kit came with a canbus decoder box which is part on the new head unit's loom, the box fixes the flashing mileage issue

Most common is something on the network doesn’t want to play ball, usually the blue and me unit. You need to start with a proxy alignment and go from there.

The flashing mileage means the CANBUS can't see a module it is expecting so flashes to tell you there is an issue. It's the same on all FIAT/Alfa Romeos.

You need something like MultiECUScan software that installs on a laptop and the correct cables.

https://www.multiecuscan.net for more info. Cables available from https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FESPKG.html

You need to get it to do a PROXI alignment in the software where it will scan the CANBUS and will report the missing item (the old head unit). See here for info https://www.fiatforum.com/guides/new-proxi-alignme...

Once you tell it the old head unit isn't there, the mileage will stop flashing. I've done this on 2 of my Alfa Romeos and it's a common thing to do.

The flashing milage won't affect anything but it is annoying.
