Are there any brands that are actually good quality and will last?

I've always gone for Levi's as I like the fit but the last couple I've had have not lasted long- most recent ones have just burst through the crotch and were only bought in October 2023!

'Back when I were a lad' I had a pair that lasted me about 7/8 years so they must have declined. I don't mind paying £100 if they'll last but resent forking out for another pair now.

Given up spending much on jeans as none seem to last. Quick trip to TK Maxx (council) and buy whatever fits

I've got a couple of pairs if levis and think they're good.

I think if its higher quality you are after you need to double your budget and look at the Japanese denim. Nudie and brands like that.

Iron Heart are very well made and seem to last for ever - I have pairs that are going on ten years old and get regular wear.

How long have you had them and how often do you wear them? £100 jeans should last comfortably longer than 16 months, they certainly used to.

Sod doubling the budget though, I'd sooner spend £50 and roll with it if Levi's can't even last 2 years now. Issue is they do odd waist sizes which is handy as I'm a 33".

There's a company based in Hebden Bridge called Hebtroco that sells jeans, jackets, boots etc. All British made, not the cheapest but it is decent and they make it to last. Superb reviews on Trustpilot so will probably get my next pair from them.

I’d love a pair of Hebtroco jeans but just baulk at the price.

I just go with Next jeans, generally ok quality and fit without costing a fortune

I think the (individual) fit is more important than anything. Same with most clothing.

For me, cheap Jack & Jones jeans seem to fit well. Ironically, as a Danish brand they are relatively expensive in their home country yet cheap and Sports Direct sold in the UK.

Depends on the denim you are buying, Levi still offer some tough denim that will last years.

Getting harder to find though, with most denim getting softer and thinner, so they are more comfy, they will wear quicker. But tougher denims are out there and seem to be making a bit of a comeback.

I wear M&S and Sainsburys a lot and have some pairs which are 3/4 years old. Once i've lost some timber I may get some nice ones but happy with those and I wear them a lot

Looks good stuff. If they last years, then it's decent value, and better than constantly replacing 'quick fashion' clothes made in far east sweatshops .

How do you find our about this sort of company? Must be others businesses like it?

Nudie or Lee for me. I used to get Armani JO5/7 but the quality on those seems to have gone downhill, sent a pair back I ordered a couple of weeks ago.

I gave up on £50 jeans, yes I'm cheap laugh and bought a load of Primark jeans at 9.99 each.

That was two years ago and still going strong. The blue ones that I'm currently wearing are used for work, going out and hiking. Just been up a scramble and slither back down and they still look new when washed.

Have had compliments from some of the ladies at work saying that they look good on me. Always surprised when I tell them where I bought them and for how much biggrin

+1

Had 3 or 4 pairs of Primark ones over the last 10 or so years, wore them a lot (WFH meant being able to wear them all week long) but they still offer good VFM. I doubt one pair for £100 would have lasted the same 10 years.

You should give the Primark ones a go, by the sounds of it they should at least last as long as the Levis and if they don't you have only lost a tenner.

I had some Levi jeans that lasted a while and then the replacements have lasted less than two years (I live in them outside of work).

Got some Tesco ones a couple of months ago and they are more comfortable than the Levis. Fit better and haven't worn out anywhere yet.

I have a pair of their jeans, and a pair of their denim shorts. Proper selvedge denim and worth every penny.

I have every confidence they will see me out!

The jeans of your memory/nostalgia are selevdge. Levi’s have a line of selvedge jeans which are more expensive.

Be aware that your memory has probably forgotten that it took 3 wears until jeans were comfortable.
