I have a 2016 G350D on 36K miles and the check engine light came up. It's a duff NOX sensor.
I'm told this can only be fitted by a MB dealer as it will require a MB software / coding update after fitting.

Does anyone know if this is correct please?

Many thanks

A specialist may be able to do this but they would need to code the part to the car. When you see the part you will understand why, its got the sensor on one end and a great big ECU on the other.

NOX sensors are a pretty common fault on those engines / that era of merc. I can garentee a good specialist will have come across it before.

Mercedes were covering a lot of these under goodwill. (not sure on your car specifically) So maybe a chat with them might be worth thinking about it

On the ones we have done - admitidley not the 350 but the lowly petrol and diesels, and on any other brand its been fit, clear fault codes and away you go. They are nothing more than a fancy o2 sensor.
