Urgent help wrong transmission fluid in car?
Discussion
Hi all,
I have a Volvo 2016 transmission 81tgs.
I had a transmission fluid change yesterday. Replaced 7 litres of fluid.
My invoice says they used Auto Trans D iii fluid. My understanding is that this is JWS 3309 fluid whereas I believe my transmission needs JWS 3324 fluid.
I'm not sure if it backwards compatible and whether it will be ok if anyone can advise?
Thank you.

I'd say that needs to come out, right away.
Personal experience - fully rebuilt AW gearbox in our XC70, no idea what they filled it with but they had it back and rebuilt two further times due to severe and prolonged torque converter shudder.
I fixed it myself (after asking myself, "could they really be that stupid?") by filling with the correct JWS3309 fluid.
What came out was jet black after just a few k while the correct stuff is staying red.
Dexron III as per the spec sheet you copied, is defintely not a suitable substitute, and in no way is it equivalent to JWS3309 or higher. I put it in the 3spd+OD box in my 1989 740.
