As per the title, does anyone have any experience with importing an engine from the states? Is there a particular company you’d recommend? Did you actually save any money over sourcing one locally?

I’m trying to find an LS2, but the cheapest I can find one at the moment is about £4500 in the UK. I can find a used LS2 in the states for less than $3000… could I import one for less than £1500 difference (not even accounting for the 3k being in USD)?

Start by contacting a shipping company like https://www.stsimports.co.uk/ and get a quote inc fees to bring the engine over in one of their containers, once you have that you can decide if it is worthwhiel importing or paying for one already here

Thanks for the reply! Already contacted Ron at STS Imports and his fees seem incredibly reasonable.

For those interested I’m looking at importing a Chevy L92 (budget LS3).

Total works out as follows

Engine - £2000 (approx)
STS Import shipping fee - £390
Shipping insurance (optional) @ 2% - £40
Import Duty @ 3.5% - £70
VAT @ 20% - £400

Total (approx) = £2900
