I’m looking to start an eCommerce website. I’ve heard good things about Shopify? Do we have any members on here that have used the software? I’m also looking for web hosting.

yes, have built lots of shopify websites for clients - very good…

why do you need web hosting? - shopify host their own software so all the ecommerce will sit on their servers… if you also want some static pages you can do that through shopify…

buy a domain through a registrar and point the A record at shopify - job done…

if you need help - happy to do so…

Go Shopify, check Dawn theme first as it’s free. Only use Shopify store themes not external.
The use of apps is key here, what niche are you in?

I’ll have a look. I’m actually selling car detailing products.

Are your detailing products focused more on the professional valeters/detailing guys or are you targeting the general public who enjoy looking after their pride and joy? Depending on which one you will need different apps on Shopify to maximise purchases, but Shopify is definitely the right platform either way.

They are aimed at the professional, but with the aim for the general public to also purchase. I’m trying to make products as simple as possible without all the faff.

Ok this gives options, car stuff sells well by affiliate so bolt on https://apps.shopify.com/categories/marketing-and-... an affiliate pack and maybe offer volume discount or a trade log in with trade prices.
Consider a video for the hero banner and use social snowball to create UGC.
I’m currently loving a range of car scents you spray into the carpet, cannot believe they last so long

shopify for testing is OK
Individual E-commerce have better chances and can be adapted.
Shopify you are pretty limited and per year you are looking at 3 to 4000 Pound depending on what packet you go for.

The only ecommerce platform I’ve used is Magento. But it’s complex and costs a lot for servers etc to run efficiently.

I would suggest you look at Wordpress with WooCommerce. Happy to point you in the right direction but would not be able to develop as our current workload is considerable. Depending on what functionality you require it would come in less expensive and more flexible than Shopify. Magneto was a horrific product IMHO
Feel free to email me for advice .

Another vote for Shopify, and Klaviyo for email and SMS tech.
