Moving boiler pondering… external gas combi?
Discussion
House we’re buying (still in legals) has a gas combi on kitchen wall. Yuck. Plus in annoying location.
It’s a bungalow.
Do people do gas combis in external housings much?
I’ve found a few but they look a bit odd hanging on the wall, vs oil ones which sit on the floor and which I’ve worked with before (doing pads for it and the tank)
Having it located just on the other side of the wall but low down would be excellent as easy to core drill, plumb in, out of the way, but fast heat for kitchen and main bath not too far away.
Also having it outside feels safer overall.
Aiui the oil ones are well regarded as it’s quieter, keeps the smells out, easier to service/access, etc.
And ASHP are now external.
But gas is still predominantly internal, often hard to access, replace, if they leak it’s all over your kitchen etc.
