Afternoon all

Picked this up this morning, 70 plate with 31K miles, 2.5 petrol hybrid (self charging)

Will put my plate on it when the V5 comes through. Haven't seen a readers cars thread on one of these so feel free to ask any questions.

Will get some more pics after the weekend.

Andy

Thanks to the mods for correcting the thread title!

They're wonderful cars. I've had mine 6 years now. Be prepared for all the negative comments about the drive train, especially from those who have never driven one!!!!!
On mine, there is a jack and brace hidden near the 12v battery, behind the flap on the left side of the boot. There's no spare, but at least you can remove a punctured wheel and take it for repair.

That's good to know, worked out this afternoon that it has Apple Carplay even though the salesman didn't think that it had. I'm no speedster so I think that it will be absolutely fine.

My wife is however concerned that our suitcases won't fit for when we go on holiday - I've reassured her that the back seats fold and as it is only the 2 of us it will be fine.

I really like these Andy and yours looks great. I would be interested in how you get on with it and how economical it is. I do lots of motorway miles but I’m not sure if one of these would be viable.

Your red is a really nice colour. But I think they look good in every colour they do.

I had a RC 300H F Sport for a while, spent a long time looking for a specific model, mine had Mark Levinson, and the rare sunroof option, lovely car, I liked the exclusivity of it, only saw one other in my ownership, enjoy.

Thanks Keo, the colour really 'pops' under the lights. I've gone from a diesel XF sportbrake to this as I'm doing a much shorter commute and didn't want to run the risk of EGR and DPF issues, and I also fancied a change (after a major health issue over the last 18 months I've decided that you never know what's round the corner - so why not!).

I tend to keep cars for a good 5 years plus so I'll be able to keep a tab on the economy of it.

As a sad amateur detailer I'm really looking forward to getting hands on with it, although the level of 'prep for sale' by Lexus has been exceptional in my opinion.

Suitcases will fit in the boot just fine, it's surprisingly long. The 60/40 split is handy though.
What is particularly annoying is the lack of space in the cockpit. Door pockets are useless, and the glove box small as well. I use a black toilet bag placed behind the passenger seat to store spare sunglasses /specs etc

Yours was a lovely looking car mate, I was after either a red, blue or they do a sort of silvery grey colour that looks really nice. I've had 4 black cars in the past and whilst they look good when clean, it is a nightmare to keep them looking clean.

I don't think that mine has the uprated audio (no badges or markings on the speakers) but it still sounds bloody good to my ears.

Glad you enjoyed your one, I also like the rarity, however as always with these things now that I've bought one I expect to see them everywhere.

That's good to know about the suitcases - thanks. I have noticed the lack of storage, compared to my Jag it is woeful. I am trying to think of where I can put my 2 spray bottles of quick detailer and interior cleaner (plus microfibres) that I'm use to having in my cars.

Sunglasses have fitted (in their case) in the drivers door pocket and there is a bit of room in the centre console, otherwise I'm going to have to go a bit more minimalist.

When I've next got some time during the day and it's not teeming it down I will get some more pics for those interested.

I keep my cleaning stuff in a washing up bowl in the boot. There's an indentation in the boot floor behind the backrest on the righthand side that's just the right size.

Perfect - information like that is why I love these forums. Thanks.

It looks great in red, then I saw the blue one. It makes a pleasant change to see some actual colours on post 2000 cars!

I hope you enjoy it OP.

I used to have one of these. Loved the looks, build quality and rarity, but must admit I was a bit disappointed with the fuel economy expected a bit more being a hybrid but probably more down to my daily route than the actual car.

I now have a BMW 530D X-drive that has mild hybrid and I get way better economy and it's a lot quicker, just doesn't look as stylish.

Will likely get an RC-F or LC500 at some point though.

Another Lexus 300h driver here, albeit mine is a GS F-Sport flavour.

I love the rarity, the build quality and the sense of engineering within these cars, and the RC's are no exception to that.

Lovely car OP.

Thanks. I must admit that I really do like the blue. I'm not to sure about the orange calipers with the red but I'm sure that they'll grow on me.

Lexus HedgeEnd had a lovely red RC-F with the carbon bonnet in a couple of weeks ago, and the salesman said that they have an LC500 coming in soon which I should imagine is rather special.

My old XF was only doing late 30's early 40's mpg over the last six months as I was only doing short journeys and was just waiting for the dpf to go. From the onboard computer this one appears to be doing mid 40's but I don't know what sort of driving the last owner was doing. With petrol being cheaper than diesel and mid 40's mpg - I'm happy.

Few more pics as my plate is now assigned (painless process).

Not as clean as I’d like due to the weather being rubbish since I picked it up.

If anyone wants a pic of anything specific I’ll endeavour to assist.

Andy

I’m aware that I need to get appropriately coloured plastic screws for the number plates!

fantastic looking car Andy. Look forward to your updates and ownership experiences.

My Mrs has a NX300h and its a lovely relaxing thing to drive.

I sold my own car yesterday and been scouring all the usual classifieds to find something reasonably interesting, as it would happen I've spotted a lovely red RC300h for sale near me and currently procrastinating on whether to view / potentially buy it.
The reason for procrastinating is it would be a high value purchase for what would essentially be an occasional car, and if I get bored or itchy feet for yet another change of car in 6 or 12 months, I fear it would either be hard to sell privately, or get stiffed at trade in / WBAC etc.
