Something a bit worrying happened to me over the weekend.maybe?
I was out in my Mercury and twice, among the usual “nice car mate”, I had a couple of what I later thought to be anti-American.
I’ve heard of Tesla drivers coming back to find swastikas drawn in the dirt on the dirt in their car but not classics.
Am I over thinking it or has anyone else had comments?

I'd imagine (hope!!) that you're probably over-thinking things. There'll always be a brain-dead contingent who'll take umbrage to German cars come world-cup time, for example, but these are so rare as not to be worth mentioning

Never had any problems with abuse when driving a classic yank in fact totally the opposite

with smiles, waves and thumbs up and lots of polite interest when making a petrol stop which more

than can be said for other cars i've had ,

Funny thing happened yesterday though when out in my LZ1 ,was followed down the M27 by a Chrome bumper C3

Vette and a biker overtook both of us and i could see him give the C3 a big thumps up as he passed him then completely

ignoring me as if i was in a Prius , I am new to a modern yank so was surprised ,

Just goes to show how people love the classics .

It won't surprise me if this will happen with classic yanks I'm afraid, maybe not quite as much as newer stuff like is happening to Tesla's, but there will be a lot of anti-American feelings in the coming months, even directed to classics.

Maybe try and get hold of one of those 'Dan Gurney For President' window stickers smile

Fortunately I’m quite deaf on my left side so I’d never hear what anyone said if I’m in a left hooker !

Really can’t see it happening down here anyway,
What does a US hater actually look like ?
Musk didn’t design the Tesla brand, he simply brought a load of its stock?
Said it before, I’m so thankful I grew up in a different and hugely better time .

True, but, he basically bought into within its first year of existence, some 21 years ago, and has pretty much full funded its development from then on becoming its Chairman back in 2004, so its understandable why people associate him as being the Tesla brand in its entirety.

The irony of all this is most of these useless toss pots probably say “ put the trash out” or play in the yard !
Just goes to show how cushy there lives are have been if this is what they are bothered about!

I barely recognise this country now,

I don't think any 'car enthusiasts' would resort to this behaviour, and I don't think many non enthusiasts would even notice your car, never mind know about the Mercury brand? It might just be anti-old car people I suppose.
