Outdoor kitchens
Discussion
We're looking ever increasingly like adding in an outdoor kitchen as part of redoing our patio area, so was hoping to get a bit of inspiration from what others may have and sense check a few things.
As with anything, I suppose the sky is the limit with how far you go and how much you spend. Given we'll have all the current patio etc ripped up, it's the right time to think about things like adding plumbing, power and so on.
I think it's a given we'll go with adding power, this has already been discussed with our project manager, and doesn't sound too tough to run a cable around the house and to the proposed kitchen area.
Plumbing is something that again I imagine the only time you do think about doing it is when you've got all the patio ripped up. But is this likely to add a huge cost regardless of patio being up? And how essential is it? In my mind it really would be handy to be able to leave everything BBQ/outdoor cooking related permanently outside - ie be able to wash it up outside and then put it away.
I just imagine there might be a tendency for some of that stuff to end up back inside if that's where it gets cleaned if we don't have water outside....
But on the flip side if it's going to cost a silly amount to have water out there, maybe we can do without it?
How far do we need to go to ensure it's a 'dry' area - thinking about something like a fridge being built into the kitchen, does this then mean it basically needs to be like it is kept inside in terms of water tight? Or are there outdoor fridges that are designed to be 'in the elements' to an extent?
Any photos and thoughts of what people have would be great. I have a pretty large space planned for it, 4.5m x 4m or so, and I suppose a pretty healthy budget for the whole project, but then at this stage I don't really know how much costs can spiral with something like a kitchen.

Interested in the responses here, as we're about to pull the trigger on one too. Our general thought process has been slightly different in that we'd rather remove the complexity and essentially just build some worktops around a Big Green Egg and gas BBQ, and have a space for our Ooni pizza oven to live on. No plumbing and just lights for electrics. We can do this because the back of our house opens out onto the outdoor eating area, so access to the kitchen is easy, but if we wanted more of a prep, cooking and cleaning area then we'd add a fridge and a sink.
If you are anywhere near St Albans I'd highly recommend a visit to https://theoutdoorkitchencollective.co.uk/

Similar to you the design will be around my BGE, so a nice amount of worktops and a bit of a breakfast bar vibe is where this has started. But I am liking the idea of it being rather self contained in that things could be washed out there, as well as the fridge for the BBQ essentials. It's by no means a 'slog' to go into the main kitchen, but even so I do find myself going back and forth a lot, so it would be nice to take the need for that away. And in true PH style, the direct access to the kitchen will have a dropdown cinema screen in the way come summer, so the route into the kitchen will become a bit longer (yes, by a matter of seconds!)
Looking at doing similar this year, I've been following this thread - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Oh nice! Maybe I'll put my post in that one and let this thread die off!
