Have no idea why, but my SkyQ box is losing the connection to the router.
Can't seem to find any pattern - When we turn it on in the morning it may or may not have a connection. if i attempt to reset it - nothing changes. i have to go all the way to the point of entering the wireless password and reconnecting. We've had an instance where we were watching iplayer via the box and it died mid watch. Other times it'll keep the connection for a few days before dropping it.

I've tried googling and beside lots of chat about Sky trying to sell their service nothing useful.
Would appreciate any ideas as frankly punching in the wi fi code is getting boring !

I have had mixed experience with Sky Q
Have you called up Sky to get an engineer round as they will normally be able to pinpoint the issue?
I have had long periods where it connected well wirelessly then it would suddenly stop and would behave in a manner that you describe with yours. Nowadays I find its best with a hardwired connection to the router and any attempt at wireless conection is failing. Sky came round and said they saw some "interference" with the signal but could not narrrow down what was causing it.

I gave up with Sky Q, we had constant issues despite all boxes being hard wired / RJ45.

They would regularly say 'not connected' when they clearly were.

We went with Sky Stream in the end and provided you can get on with the interface, and everything streaming rather than recording locally, we've found it a much more stable platform.

When I had this issue it was only resolved by ripping out my 3rd party router and mesh extenders and getting BT's own router and extender discs. No problems since doing that.

I think Qs don't get on with some makes of router, that's all.

Ours does it, sometimes its the main unit, sometimes its one of the other two mini boxes, its clearley a Sky issue as nothing else in the house loses internet connection.

Mine used to do it all of the time, I ended up plugging it into the router via powerline Ethernet adaptors, and even then it still used to not find the network from time to time!

It was a lot better though

We have a main box & 3 mini boxes.

Only 1 & the same 1 does this frequently. Strangely its the one closest to the wi-fi!

What doesn't help with Sky Q is that it uses two separate WiFi networks - there's a Q Internal one that can only be seen by other Q boxes, then it uses your normal Sky WiFi to connect to streaming services - Netflix, IPlayer etc. This means there is a huge amount of potential for interference, especially if like us you've got a 3rd Party Mesh network piggy backed off the back as the Sky WiFi router is a bit pony.

It was rock solid in our old house which was a 00s 3 storey townhouse with plasterboard walls, but when we moved to our current 30s semi it got a bit problematic. We were having constant disconnects and mini boxes freezing, to the point we were ready to ditch it. We called Sky and they sent us a WiFi Booster which we installed on the second floor - never had a problem since.

We renewed with Sky last month and were very close to ditching Q and going for Stream, but we stuck with it as a) we do still like recording, even if streaming would do the same job b) our Broadband is maxed out at 40Mbs, so I'd prefer to keep the TV coming through the dish and leave the BB for other stuff.

TL:dr - call Sky and see if they will send you a Booster FOC.

I have all our Sky boxes hardwired for this very reason.

I've tried mine hard-wired and also via my normal wifi network. Both had poor connectivity.
Sky were useless and getting support to resolve the problem was very difficult. In the end I had to create an additional wifi network on 2.4Ghz and force the Sky Q box to only connect to that.
It's more stable but occasionally loses connection.

I've got a Ubiquiti network so adding the network was straightforward, that solution isn't necessarily available to everyone.

My BT router and extender discs kept loosing wifi connection with my Sky Q box.
Replaced both with Asus router and discs which have proved more reliable.
Still get the occasional dropout and I find that keeping the drivers up to date and a reset once a month improves matters.
