Hi all,

I currently have Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S on the rear of my V8 vantage. They are fantastic.

On the front I have Bridgestones and they are not great.

Has anyone fitted Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres? If so, how do they compare to the 4 S?

Thanks,
John

Can’t help specifically , but Michelin are doing a cash back deal - noted somewhere on here - I’ve just had £100 back on 4 off ps5

PS5 are a step down in overall grip from PS4S.

I have PS5 all round on the Vanquish and they are great. But PS4S are a grippier step up from them. But that means they disappear quicker, especially at the rear.

Oh that’s really interesting and explains the price difference. In my head, I would believe the higher number means newer and improved. I’m glad I asked now.

Thank you.

The PS5 is a replacement for the PS4, not for the PS4S. So the PS5 is a more touring-oriented tyre rather than the more sporting attributes of the PS4S

There is no aftermarket replacement for the PS4S yet, but there is the new PSS5 (Michelin have changed the designation of their tyres) available to OEMs, Aston being one by fitting them to the the DB12

You might find this interesting

Unfortunately, as you have probably already found, you can't get PS4S in the correct sizes for both front and rear of your Vantage S in Europe (which is why I run Conti SportContacts all round). I did a little chart in this thread of some of the more popular tyre choices and availabilitties

LTP, thanks for that link. It was interesting. After seeing that and knowing my main use is on public roads with the occasional spirited drive and maybe a faster drive through Europe later in the year, I think I’ll keep the 4S on the rear and go for the 5 on the front. It sounds a great all round tyre, comfy and very close to the 4S but lasts longer and costs considerably less.

Thanks everyone.

FWIW, check out Camskill for tyres. BC had my pants down once and charged me twice for one set of tyres. Took me a while to get my overcharged money back and their attitude was shocking. I told them I'd flag it up at any opportunity, just saying.

I buy everything using a credit card, to avoid exactly that situation.
Any problem, simply press a few keys, card provider instantly credits your account and they teach the 'merchant' (their description) how they ought to behave.

Credit card = We are in control.
Debit card = Bank is in control and a right load of hassle if something goes wrong.
