Looking for good driving roads from Kirkby in ashfield notts
Discussion
The obvious answer from Notts is straight into the peak district, although it's slowly being ruined with speed cameras and poorly maintained roads. A610 to Matlock then dive off the main roads and enjoy, back to Matlock for some chips and home.
If you set off earlier and are making a full day of it, get over to Wales. Breakfast at The Ponderosa then you won't find a bad road all day.
Bit closer is Rutland water, the roads around there are often nice, watch out for sheep and tourists (not always at the same time)
The other fun one is the B6047 Market Harborough to Melton Mowbray. God help you if you're stuck behind a dawdler though, very few passing opportunities in the fun sections.

I live not far from Hucknall so similar area.
Peak District is my go to on the motorbike. Lincolnshire isn’t bad but abit flat, boring and straight mostly.
Mam Tor and Grindleford are two of my popular routes. Head out in the A610 past Giltbrook and towards Matlock Bath on the A6, turn off just before Matlock Bath onto the A5012 then follow that out, world is your oyster from there to either head further West towards Macclesfield and the Cat & Fiddle or head more north towards Bakewell/Grindleford. Some lovely roads past Grindleford heading up towards Snakes Pass.

The Lincolnshire Wolds aren't flat, they're very un-flat, not a bit boring and mostly not straight.Edited by CoreyDog on Monday 17th February 09:30
The Peak District, similar to the NC500, has been a victim of it's own success and is no longer the driver's or rider's paradise it was a decade or more back.

Personally don’t particularly enjoy Lincolnshire, few decent roads, Willy Woods isn’t a bad meeting spot and Skegness is usually the destination. The bike night at Lincolnshire Aviation Museum is a must every year but personal preference is Peaks, more diversity of roads and places to aim for.
