Not sure there are too many, think I've seen a Renault with some kind of rack that pulls out from the rear underneath

Renault Modus had kind of plug in cycle rack, Vauxhall Corsa had the option of a built in pull out cycle rack, circa 2012 ish!

I wonder how many were ordered (and how many ever used)?

They are a good idea.

Meriva and Zafira Tourer also had it. I think it was 2 bikes as standard and an extension was available to add 2 more.

It struck me as a very clever idea.

I’ve seen the Vauxhall ones only a couple of times in car parks. Seems to have been on press cars but very few actually ordered it.

VW ID3 has the option of a bike rack towbar (it has no towing capacity) that lives behind the number plate.

I'd forgotten about those. Clever idea and if carrying a bike was a regular thing then probably quite handy in a small car.

I'd imagine that after a few years of water and road grime getting in they would have seized up.

It's a rack not a bike storage area?

I've got that rack on my F55 Cooper S.

It works ok for one bike, but two burly MTBs are too wide too fit on the rack.

A few years back my Wife was considering a Vauxhall Mokka yikes so we went to see one at the local dealership, they have a very neat looking pull out bike rack option, number plate etc. comes out with it IIRC.

Thankfully, I talked her out of the Vauxhall but the bike rack is a nice touch if that's your thing.
