After having an unfortunate year in 24, following two accidents (the first in 30 years) had two which were my fault and wrote off both cars.

So now have the M4 and the insurance is £4000 a year which is something I have to do.

I’m also getting a new Aston Martin DB12 Volante at the end of March - and I just checked to replace the vehicle on my insurance and see how much that costs, and that’s less than the M4, at £3700. This car costs 3x as much as what I paid for the M4! Crazy!!

Im really interested to know how you wrote off two cars and what cars they were. Was anyone injured?

Accidents happen, hopefully you were able to piece together what went wrong so you can prevent in future.

As for why the M4 costs more to insure, it's as more are stolen/written off. I suspect Aston Martin drivers are, on the whole, more careful. Statistically they are less likely to be involved in accidents.

I'm currently paying c£700 for our M4 CP convertible, renewal quotes suggest it may come down a little this year.
Mid 50's, Liverpool postcode, kept on the drive.
Considering how nickable they are, I don't think that's expansive at all.

So the first one was last June - in my 7 month old Aston Martin Vantage Roadster - sneezed a few times whilst driving and accidentally went into the car in front of me - entirely my fault

So second accident was in the courtesy car, the month after. And yes I’ll admit, I had an epileptic seizure. Not had one for 10 years and had been on holiday and been sick and my meds were not being absorbed - Dr advised this was reason and I should take 4/6 weeks off from driving to allow meds to settle into my system but I legally had to surrender my licence for a year. Hardest thing that’s ever happened to me. Get my licence back in 4 months and new DB12 Volante coming in 3 weeks and we have an M4 Cab LCI which is 4 months old, as our daily driver. Been a passenger for the first time in nearly 40 years for the last 8 months

Only harm from first accident was a burnt hand from air bag going off

Thank you for your kind words - just another 4 months and I’ll be driving again. Hard enough seeing the new M4 outside every day - will be worse when the DB12 arrives on the 28th!
