Moving on, but keeping it all in the family…
Discussion
After 7+ great years enjoying 2 Model 3 Performances (‘18 and ‘22), I’ve decided to move on from the platform.
Both of those were great cars, and both of them stayed in MY family, with our older daughter buying the ‘18 from me and our younger daughter recently taking possession of the ‘22.
I test drove the Highland M3P and couldn’t really find anything wrong with it - just a fantastic car and a big improvement in every way.
While at the Tesla gallery I also drove a new Model S LR. My first thought after the drive was “wow - it’s hard to imagine that anyone would need more speed than that.” In addition, the extra comfort and quietness plus the stunning audio system offered compelling reasons to consider the S instead.
I also recently retired and so I started thinking that whatever car I bought next needed to last me for a while - longer than the ~3-4 years I’ve typically kept most of my cars.
That got me thinking about a Plaid.
While I could afford a new one, the conservative Midwesterner in me couldn’t justify the $$$, so I returned to the car-buying mantra I’d used for years before buying the ‘18 M3P: the best value is almost always a lightly-used car, and the best value in that category is always a lightly-used higher-end car due to the substantial depreciation they almost all suffer.
I looked for the right one for a couple of months, deciding in the end that I wanted a “refresh-refresh” version, meaning ‘23 or later. I finally found the right one at a Porsche dealer, ironically. (it had been traded on a new Macan Turbo EV)
Made the deal, and here she is:

Not sure what I can share that hasn’t already been said about the Plaid, but I will say that in addition to the truly ridiculous speed, it’s a remarkably comfortable, relaxed, quiet cruiser.
So I’m still in the Tesla family, and my family is now a 3-Tesla family. ;-)
As an aside, if anyone had told teenage me that one day I’d be daily-driving a 1,000+ hp luxury car, I would have suggested psychiatric help… ;-)

Looks lovely - those things are crazy fast. A 3 car Tesla family - can you all charge at once?!
Thx!LOL - no. Our girls are both “launched” and living on their own 😎
That said, SWMBO drives a Genesis GV60 and we both use the Tesla Mobile Connector to charge at home, hers obviously with an adapter.
We’re also both retired, so we only typically need to charge about once a week.
