I have a ticking which goes away once the engine is warm, I performed a smoke down test to examine the manifolds
For leaks, what I found was the 2 exhaust clamps were leaking a lot of smoke, to the point I couldn’t determine if the headers had any leaks as the engine bay would become engulfed in smoke.

Tried wrapping them in tape and damp rags but wasn’t enough

Could these clamps be the source of the noise?

Quite possibly. Exhaust leaks close to the heads can sound very mechanical. Easy to find out - fix the leaks, and see what effect it has on the noise.
