Hi guys, after some digging through the boot and needing to replace a license plate light, I've got a question
Both the boot light and the license plate light are still tiny incandescent bulbs, and I was wondering why?

The ND was designed a while ago, but well into the years where leds for such applications seemed obvious.
What is the reason for it? Just a parts been reason? It's what they've done for 100 years so they'll stick to it or maybe something I'm missing here?

Penny pinching I guess. Old style bulbs are probably pennies and LEDs will cost more, they have come down in price over the years but they will probably still cost more than filament bulbs so why bother putting them in places like the boot where no one is going to see it often. My GR86 was the same boot light was woeful so changed to LED now I can actually see in the dark! Reversing lights again changed to LED and a world of difference, just cost cutting.

Yea, just picked up a set of two for EUR 1.20 and that made me realize it smile. Good thing, as they only had 3W ones in stock and the originals were 5W.

I've done that one, got the fancy one from MX5 things. Much more expensive but with everything included and non-exposed leds.

The rear number plate I'm not to fussed about being properly illuminated, but one bulb was out so it was asymmetrical, which looked terrible smile.
