GLC 63S E-Performance purchased
Discussion
So I am going to duck for cover now as I know the 4 pot hybrid is frowned upon…but hear me out!
I have owned a previous GLC63S with the fire breathing V8 and currently have a Brabus tuned GLE53 so each car change I seem to be dropping 1000cc…
I was wandering around my favoured showroom and a gleaming white compact SUV caught my eye, I had been deliberating dropping down a size in vehicle as we also have a new GLA45s and for the area we live in I found it much more manageable in the tight roads, plus I like to change.
They gave me a C63Se for a two days and I was actually impressed, yes the V8 sound is a thing of the past and the noise upped in does seem artificial, but I thought I will embrace technology on this one. It was quick, very quick, the interior felt like a huge step up on the GLE which is probably as that is built in Alabama? I found this thing fun, the back end because of the electric owner meant on full throttle, it would skip the back out and it handled well.
I appreciate purists will dismiss this setu and I can appreciate why, I have owned the V8, but I have experienced that and wanted something different.
Sooo…I took the GLC63SE out for a day and it was in my view better. The ride was more compliant in gentle settings and I felt the body roll was not intrusive. The performance will still outstanding and as an all round daily, it ticked a lot of boxes.
On that basis, I take delivery of this Opalite White version on the 1 March!
I will update when I take delivery and give any further impressions if of any interest…

No hate from me, they are seriously impressive cars, just not quite as drama forward as the old V8 ones.
Not tried the GLC63 but did try the new C63 and GLC43. They have all the looks, all the tech, great interiors, etc etc and if I was to join you in your safe hiding space... they are better box tickers than the old V8 ones...
Most AMG owners don't buy AMG's for the speed or the tech though, they buy them because they are deliberately a little more dramatic than the competition. I actually don't think many AMG guys care how the car drives as long as it makes them giggle!
Ill be interested to know how you get on, and how you compare it to the old V8 one. The early 43s had terrible reliability issues but I've not heard much negative in the last year or so so I'd imagine you will be pretty safe.
Roll on March!

I could have it now but I’m waiting to register it in a 25 plate. I picked up a GLA45S on a 74 plate so thought I would wait for a 25 plate. Not tried the GLC63 but did try the new C63 and GLC43. I will do lengthier post when I collect and can compare with my GLC63S and GLE53 and also my wife’s GLA45S
So update - loving it!
It’s very very quick, has a lovely sound and the tech and comfort is another level ??
I’ve generally being driving it in sport plus so not making the most of the hybrid aspect (save for performance) but it is an AMG after all!
I would say that it feels much smaller on the road than my GLE ever did and is a lot more nimble on the corners.
It feels a lot heavier and chunkier than the GLA which feels like a hot hatch in comparison.
So all in all, a nice one to add to the fleet. Quick, luxurious, tech extravaganza and pretty rare on the roads!
