Any G30 530i owners?
Having read some comments on here and having had a quick test drive (of the estate) I was quite impressed. I went along expecting the ride quality with M Sport suspension, non-adaptive dampers and runflats to be poor but found it fine. I was also expecting to dislike the 4 pot 2.0 but, no. Apart from the slightly clatter idle it pulled surprising well, felt very well matched to the box and actually made a decent noise towards the red line. Seems to offer a good blend of decent performance with good economy when cruising.
What this one didn't have was adaptive cruise; that's a must for me. I didn't realise that "cruise control with brake function" was BMW speak for regular cruise control.....
I guess my go-to spec is adaptive cruise, Android/Apple connectivity and M Sport bits.
HK would be good to have as would a pano roof and memory seats.
I'm looking for a late one, say 2019-ish.
Any owners on here? Anything to look out for?

I've got one. Had it two years. It's a superb car. Best mpg was 47 on a 200 mile motorway drive.
Very refined, well built car.
Just check the wheels are round and little things like illuminated sills light up.
If there's a vibration at 80mph it might be the wheels, they need removing, a single layer of tape wrapping round the hub and the wheels refitted and torqued before it's lowered back onto the ground.
Keep an eye out for idrive 7 cars. These appeared mid way through 2019 but plenty of 2020 cars still have idrive 6.

I have a 2020/69 520d , my thread is here:
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Echoing above, having test driven a 2017 before this, the updated infotainment is essential, at least for me… comes with the upgraded virtual cockpit too which has way more functionality.
Might be the same for the petrols but mine is also a mild hybrid , I.e engine from the facelift, interior from the facelift, body of the pre facelift. I’ve added facelift rear lights so the only thing that isn’t facelift is the front bumper and headlights.
I considered selling mine as my use case for diesel has stopped and I had the third diesel related exhaust sensor go in one year, but having test driven an 840i and getting back into the 5er….i preferred it!!!
HK in mine is the best sound system I’ve ever had, absolutely must have.

I'd read that they were very quiet and was impressed on the test drive. The economy sounds good too - I tend to use my current E Class estate for long trips.Very refined, well built car.

Thanks. Out of interest, which wheels have you got?. The car I looked at had the M Sport pack - I think the wheels are Style 664s. 19 inch.If there's a vibration at 80mph it might be the wheels, they need removing, a single layer of tape wrapping round the hub and the wheels refitted and torqued before it's lowered back onto the ground.

Wow what a great thread. I'll go back and look at it in more detail when I have the time but for now some quick observations/questions.https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Firstly, THAT interior. Exactly the same as the one I tried. Just one of the nicest places I have ever sat. I loved the blue stitching and leather dash. I didn't expect to like the alu but actually thought it really lifted it. I'm pretty sure it had the virtual cockpit but didn't play with it. As someone said in the comments, once you've tried it you won't want to go back. I recently experienced the Ford and VAG versions in a couple of hire cars and agree. Want.
Same wheels, want them too. But those tyres aren't cheap! Roughly double what I'm used to for non-rfl 18s.
Regarding the engine, my plan is to go for a non-hybrid petrol. I both live in London (so inevitably end up doing lots of short trips) and I tend to hang on to my cars for a while. I've had petrol V8 Mercs forever and was thinking about going a bit more sensible for the next car. I ended up looking at various VAGs but couldn't see myself in a Golf R estate, my wife hated the look of the Arteon SB and I REALLY couldn't get excited by the idea of a Superb 280. Then a mate nudged me towards BM 4 pots and here I am. MUCH better idea :-)
Finally, the reversing camera - a must have in London - was that a retro fit of something OEM or was it after market? I'm interested as quite a few G30s (well, G31s to be precise) don't seem to have it fitted.

Cheers! Yeah I explain the virtual cockpits in there. I test drove one with the old dials , I found it frustrating there was no digital speed read out unless I couldn’t find it - that car had HUD though so it was up there instead. The camera I had retro fitted, you absolutely need it, for me, mainly to position myself at the back of a parking space so the front wasn’t overhanging - if there’s nothing to beep off it was impossible to get right. I paid about £500 all in for the genuine bmw retrofit - they actually sell the kit , had a coder install it and activate it. Flawless. Not sure if it’s as easy on the older idrive , you’d have to check that . It’s called the icam2. Apple car play is retrofittable on the idrive 6 cars if it doesn’t have it already, some seemed to.
Yeah mine is a mild hybrid, it had a 48v battery and regeneration which is actually pretty good for mpg , use the brakes less. I use mine in a custom drive mode so no start / stop or coasting. The other drive modes allow coasting with the engine off which is good in some circumstances
I replaced all of my tyres at once for non RFT Goodyears. Was about £880 I think.

Yes, a digital speed readout is very useful - I use that a lot on speed camera roads when it can be 40/50/60/70 mph. That and adaptive cruise.
I assumed that I'd want to ditch the runflats but really didn't mind the ride. I guess the tech has moved on.

This is idrive 7.
Options that I went for Inc the 20" wheels, head up display, heated steering wheel, folding rear seats, Harmon Kardon and cream interior. Also got keyless entry and the boot lid is electric....is that comfort access?

That's my favourite all time colour combination right there - dark blue metallic over pale leather.
