About three weeks ago I got the dreaded sore throat, chesty cough, night sweats and all the other goodies assosciated with a viral infection. Not entirely sure if it was the 'vid, but symptoms were almost identical to the first time I officially had it back during the midst. I managed to shake the worst of it after about ten days but it has left me with debilitating fatigue and massively reduced cognitive sharpness. I am struggling to concentrate, I feel like I have tunnel vision and as if I am piloting somebody elses body.

I feel like I've had three or four pints of beer constantly - without the pleasure of actually having them. I know some residual fatigue is normal, but this is quite scary. Usually after these little bouts of flu /cold I tend to feel improvement day to day, but I feel exactly the same today despite being well rested.

It's properly miserable and I don't really know what I can do aside from wait, I suppose? Anybody experienced this and how long did it last?

Yes I have.

My advice is go to your GP, they'll dismiss it as long covid and ask to revisit in six weeks.
In six weeks time if you're better all good, if not then you're in the system and able to bother the doc for further tests.

Did this improve? Feeling very similar now. Just no improvement day to day (after 3.5 weeks) and it's so frustrating. If I do nothing I feel moderate to ok, but really in need of a nap by mid afternoon, but any physical activity much beyond a gentle walk leaves me knackered.

Mine turned out to be a heart problem, now on meds and managing the condition.

My advice is keep bothering the doc, eventually they'll start doing bloods etc to get to the bottom of it.

I had a right bad dose of flu back in Feb.
Previously pretty fit before it.
Its absolutely wiped me out.

I'm just about getting back to normal now felt my fitness go, felt knackered all the time had to really scale back gym / running as just wasn't recovering after it.
