Hi
I've purchased a second hand bike for my son on marketplace, booked a courier (Evri) and payed for the bike. The courier turned up and said it was too large and refused to take it. A few days messing around and I've had a refund from evri but still need to sort a courier out.

Has anyone used a collection/drop off service for a bike. It's packaged up but the box is 140x80x25cm
I've tried DPD but they don't seem to offer courier for something that big.

140x80x25 is well within the dimensions for Parcelforce express 48 large which has limits of 2.5m for the length and a combined length and width not more than 4m.

When I saw the thread title my immediate thought was Paisley.

Another vote for Paisley. Just bought a road bike and the shop sent it via Paisley and was delivered by the courier company local to me (APC in this case). Very easy.

Yeah, I've used them numerous times - and it's usually APC Overnight who turns up. Never had a problem with them, and would use them again.

Reminds when my brother wanted to send his bicycle to York using Red Star - a service that was offered by British Rail.

He took it down to the station, and was told by the guy on duty it had to be in the box. So he went home again, got a box took it apart put it in the box and following day goes back to the station.

A different person is in duty

“I’d like to send my bike to York by Red Star”

“Yes that will be £7.50” or whatever it was. Brother pays

Ticket office staff member says “Wheel it in”

My Brother “Wheel it in? I can’t, it’s in a box”

“In a box? What’s it in a box for?”

“I came down yesterday and was told it had to be in a box”

“Well that was stupid advice, they are a lot harder to move in boxes. It’s almost more expensive to send in a box, so you going to take it out the box or pay more”
