Thoughts on Nankang sportnex AS2+ tyres?
245/45/R16.
Not silly money. (£71 each).
Very close to moving home soon so pennies tight as all we know is expensive.
Simply can't justify right now spending 150-200 each on rear tyres.
Mine are way beyond they're sell by date being now 19 years old. (They came in the car when I got it).
They really need changing as the tread has plenty left but very hard and not much traction when getting enthusiastic.

Personally, I'd be happy with those, at that price. smile There plenty of makes that are worse.

Unless you do track days, any decent new tyre is miles better than a very old one.

I don't do track days.
Thanks for the info.
I wish they did the Nankang NS20 tyre as I've got them on my Volvo and they handle the Swedish barge very well.

Did they come with 225/50/16 from the factory?

195/50/15 on the front.

Seems to be an average all round tyre, only thing you can do is test them out. You can at least have some fun burning them out if they are rubbish.

Your front tyre are not the original size. They should be 205/55 x 15 or if you have PAS 225/50 x 15.

Early Griffs had 225/50 x 16 on the rear, as did Chimaeras, but when they became unavailable in that size and speed rating, TVR went to 245/45 x 16 instead. This size is in fact marginal on a 7.5" rim, and some manufacturers suggest you shouldn't really go above 235mm, 245mm is the absolute max width.

It would appear they do:-

plus the fronts:-

Non PAS had both sizes fitted from new and the first cars had 215/50/15 front tyres.

Quite. An 8.5" rim would be a more normal choice. It's surpising that when choosing new rims few correct this aspect.

Dan Taylor at Taylor TVR recommended the tyre sizes. That's what WAS on my car last year.
He said they're ideal sizes for a Griffith. I trust him.
195/50/15 front.
245/45/16 rear.
Mines non Pas so he said wider front tyres would make the steering at lower speeds heavier. Heavier than it is?! No thanks.

True, but only for the 1st year I think, I hadn't gone THAT early. wink

I had 205/50 x 15s on the front of a Chimaera once put on by the previous owner. They looked just too small, but if 195/50 x 15 you're happy with. smile

My car is non pas I've had 20 years of 205 55 15 on the front and 245 45 16 on rear .matt smith couldn't get any toyos for the front so have 225 50 15 on tje front now .don't seem any different from 205 55s steering still heavy when parking but if you want a proper sports car you have to have good biceps ant triceps
