Looking at buying a polisher and materials.
Meguiars "Ultimate" and "Wax", or Menzurna 1000/2000/3000?
Which should I go for? Car was recently painted and clear coated.
Thanks for any guidance you may have.
Bilt Hamber Double Speed Wax would be my choice. Gets great reviews. Although I do like the Meguiars stuff.Meguiars "Ultimate" and "Wax", or Menzurna 1000/2000/3000?

You should not really need to machine polish it yet, i would leave it alone for a few weeks then apply a coating of your choice.
Careful washing methods should see minimal swirls to the paint to be honest.
Painted last year, before I bought it, amateur paint, excellent shine but has a few imperfections and dust spots.Careful washing methods should see minimal swirls to the paint to be honest.
Well my polisher and three compounds arrived yesterday. Just need to learn how to use them.
Might start on the family Volvo, 12 years old, has had a few coats of autoglym by hand over the years but it's supposed to be blue and looks grey to me except in the door shuts etc.
Worth masking off the chrome stuff etc?
Wish a novice some luck please.

First "sortie" into machine polishing today.
Started on a 13 year old roof panel (Volvo). Had a shine anyway but wanted to try and brighten it up, the "blue" looks more grey. Bit of trepidation but worked OK. Three different compounds Hard, Medium, Fine, then a wax (by hand). Used the dimpled pads, as per You Tube vids. Not sure what the flat ones etc are for..
Then tried the roof of the recently painted car. Wet sand 2000grit to remove a few dust particles then the three compounds. There's some marks from the wet sand which I thought the first compound would shift. But didn't. Dust particles gone though, nice smooth surface. Will try again tomorrow once the batteries are recharged.
Thanks guys.
