Freeview TV that DOES NOT require an Internet connection
Discussion
Hi All, do any of you have experience of a TV that will do all the freeview channels, but doesn't need an internet connection.
We are not worried about the APPS or catch up etc.
We bought one from Currys at the weekend, tethered it to a phone for required updates, tuned the Freeview, and left it with the chap.
However as soon as the phone tether was out of range, he coudn't get any Freeview channels working.
This was after being reassured by the Label-Readers that wander around the shop, pupporting to be Tech Experts assured us it didn't need internet.

OP here - thanks for the answers - I think the chap didn't actually realise what he'd got - Freeview does work fine through the aerial, as we left him, he started fiddling and fecked it up.
He's got one of those mobile Dongles that will give him some ability to stream when that's set up correctly with a Sim card
All sorted.

I’m wondering if the OP is getting confused with Freeview play which does require an Internet connection for the catch up services.
Even with Freeview Play he should still get the terrestrial channels without needing a connection. I have a Humax Freeview Play box that is only used for terrestrial viewing and it does it very well. All apps are handled by a separate Apple TV box which has the internet connection.Freely however, is internet connection only.
