Dipping our toe into EV
Discussion
1. Get an Octopus Electroverse card. It’s free and accepted most places. You don’t need to be an Octopus customer but will get a discount on public chargers if you are on one of their EV tariffs.
2. They’re all much the same unless you want to take advantage of the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff (highly recommended) in which case you will want a compatible charger such as Ohme, Zappi, Hypervolt.

1,I use Electroverse most of the time, I also have a Shell recharge card that I've only ever used once and the remainder of the time I tend to just use my credit card which happily is accepted by a lot of charge points now
Electroverse is the best IMO and very easy to use,
a lot of public chargers seem to work fine with Electroverse,
although I've had a couple of occasions where a charger that was listed as compatible didn't want to accept my card,
but it's also pretty easy just to use the app to select a charge point and start a session with that instead.
2, We've got a zappi and a Ohme home pro,
they both work well, the Zappi has a much better design for cable storage and the Ohme has a longer cable (8m) so better for if you need to park farther away,
I probably prefer the Zappi just because it's neater but there's really not much in it tbh,
As for installers,
well we're near Yeovil, so not too far from you, and I just went with Octopus who organised everything,
each time the cost for us was around £1k and was pretty easy to do with the chargers fitted within a week of paying, but ours were both pretty straight forward installs with the chargers on an outside wall close to the main fuse box,
if you want one installed farther away on a separate building or area without a suitable power supply it can start to get very expensive.

I use the Electroverse app/card, seems to be accepted most places although very rarely need to use it as most of my driving is local to home, I recommend Octopus for your electricity supply too, they really are great and the customer service is brilliant.
As for a charger, I'd recommend an Ohme Epod based on my own experiences, neat, compact and the app is brilliant.
Looking forward to hearing how you get on with the Mini!

Actually the mini itself works with intelligent octopus go, so needn't be an IOG compatible charger - although I know that is a preference for some people.2. Hi All
We pick up a Mini E on Wednesday.
A few questions:
1. What's the best card or other way of using the chargers out & about?
2. What's the best car charger for home and roughly what does it cost to install?
3. Any recommended installers in Bournemouth / Ringwood area?
Cheers!
How will you use it? How many miles per day? Will you charge at work?We pick up a Mini E on Wednesday.

Thanks everyone for the advice.
We are with Octopus and have solar and a battery, so looking forward to getting to grips with charging.
In terms of how we will use it, it will be for shopping, station, local trips etc. Charged at home or out & about on longer trips.
It will be replacing a Citroen Ami - great fun for the last two years, but a little too limited.
