Just popped into my local Honda dealership to look at their range (son has an interview with Honda). I was amazed to see an approved used S2000 in the showroom. 26k miles and includes a hardtop for the £22k. Looked like new apart from some paint on the wing mirrors and headlight fading. Stood out amongst the Jazz’s and ENY1’s. Grabbed my attention anyway

Probably belongs to a salesman/owner.
Its priced high enough that its not really for sale but if someones willing to pay there could be a deal to be done.
Safe dry storage for the owner and if they do take it out for the day the dealership will redetail it to put it back on display.
Its always nice to have a premium halo model on display.
The Honda lineup currentley doesnt have one really.
A civic type R looks much like the rest of the forecourt.

I did take a quick look on-line and it actually looks like an okay price based on anything else for sale and it’s approved used according to the window info board. I’d love to know how approved used would work as I imagine quite a few parts are rather hard to find.

My local Peugeot dealer has something similar. One minute they have a 306 Gti-6 in red and another a 206 GTi 180 in blue.

Would need front bumper resprayed, obv had it done in the past (not uncommon, stone chips etc…) as it’s a different colour biggrin

That’s quite common on old cars. Painted plastic fades at a different rate to painter metal.

But then would it not be lighter rather than darker?

Either way, something that needs doing and as approved used would expect to be done.

The last car I looked at was red and the metal panels had faded, but not the plastic ones.

Given current S2000 prices maybe an Approved Used one might be a smart buy?

We have a 22 year old S2000 , owned it from new and it lives outside , now on 78000 miles. Berlina black with full red interior .

Heartbreak last year when the wind blew a shaving mirror out of the 2nd floor window , landed and just clipped the edge of the bonnet , next to the windscreen , could have cried, decided to just accept the small dent .

We put an advert up for sale last year , £15000. , quite a lot of interest , but Mrs pulled the ad as she couldn’t bear to part with it,then .

That pic from the OP must show one of the best examples around now .

Bumper paint discussion aside, I do miss the 2 I had.

Objectively the Cayman S I had was a better car, handling, power, comfort, interior quality, ability to cover ground fast etc.

However, for me the S2000 was simply more fun experience, that engine and gearbox combo, design inside and out did it more for me, and top down motoring where you get more senses tingled, and (this is personal rather than objective) the memories (honeymoon drive round Europe etc.). I simply miss the S2000 much more.

When kids have left the roost (so wife and I can go and do some road trips again! biggrin), will no doubt get a roadster again; which I do not know (Merc SL, Boxster etc.) or maybe another (my 3rd!) S2000, who knows?!. Will see what’s available and what prices are doing come that time. S2000 will definitely be on that list.

TADTS.

Or rather, some S2000 colours were notorious for the bumpers being a different shade out of the factory (Audi had the same problem at the time). I never got a straight answer as to whether it was because the plastic took on the paint slightly differently or because they were painted at the supplier and then fitted to the car.

It's in a Honda dealer, but I don't think it's approved used.

TADTS?

The issue I see a lot on cars from past 10 yrs, Kia’s often (but a lot of other manufacturers too). I understand the car is painted in factory, but the plastics painted separately then put on car. As done separately the paint batch can be slightly out…

I had a silverstone (and later a black) S2000 and plastics matched OK.

They’ve also got a black 09 plate one with 45k on the clock for over £5k less! Imo nicer colour combo.

I had an MCB '03 S2000 and the front bumper in particular was notably wrong. Moonrock was also a problem, as IIRC was N'ring Blue.

I suspect it's the latter because if you buy a replacement from Honda they come pre-painted. The colour match on the trickier colours is usually off (grey being one of the worst). It's possible that this has had a new bumper at some point.
