I have spent hours searching for a solution for this online and am getting nowhere.

In Windows 11, from the right click menu in explorer etc there is a "Share" option.

I want to share a file using my email client Thunderbird.

I do not use Outlook, it's not even installed on my laptop, but the only option in the Share Window is to use Outlook.

Thunderbird is set as my default Mail client everywhere I can think of but all I see is this .... how can I get Share to use Thunderbird ?

Are you using this in OneDrive or a local C: drive?

If it’s local, the share does no more than copy and paste the file into your email client.

Right-click the object
Show more options
Send to -> Mail Recipient

This should fire into your defined default mail application in a new message.

Won't clicking 'All Apps' bring up Thunderbird?

Why not just open t'bird, compose an email and append the file?

That's what I would do, because I'd want the email to be sent by the correct one of several email addresses that t'bird is the client for.

On my phone, I'd just 'send using gmail' in a few clicks.

Local C drive, OneDrive has been uninstalled, detest it.

Email client is Thunderbird, Outlook not installed.

No, Thunderbird isn't listed. I run the full blown Desktop client not an App from the MS Store

Yes I can do that, but I shouldn't have to should I?

I guess I'll just have to read "Share" as, Share only using poxy MS Apps.

There must be a way to remove Share from the context Menu altogether, I've found some 3rd party programs which will allow it to be customised but a way withing Windows would be preferable.

Yes that does work, I also discovered that if you Shift-Right Click the extended Context Menu (like Win10 Contect Menu) opens instead of the Win11 one
