Not hush puppies. Something that looks suitable/passable for a suit but is very comfy still?

Look at Next's ortholite shoes, they were surprisingly comfortable to wear for long periods and walking.
Not massively expensive either.

I buy many things on line but for footwear I definitely go to a shop and try them on

Links provided as a suggestion only - OP doesn't have to buy from those links. I find Rockport a very comfortable brand and they're available widely, from all good shoe shops, as they say, and bad ones. wink

Anything really, something that I can wear again.

I only wear boots or trainers normally so shoes are somewhat alien nowadays.

Advert claims they are Oxfords, but unless I'm mistaken they are Derby shoes.

What's the budget OP?

Is it literally just to wear with a suit or for other uses as well?

If just a suit, I'd be more inclined to go for Oxfords as they are the most formal (and correct) option.

Derby shoes are considered a bit too informal for a suit (strictly speaking) but TBH if they are decent quality you'll probably look better than a vast majority of men out there who only seem to wear a suit at a wedding (trousers 3 inches to long) paired with miserable shoes like this:

The most important starting point to any sensible suggestions.
Obviously a pair of bespoke shoes from Lobb or similar costing upwards of £6-8k would very very comfortable but most of us don't reside in that world (outside of our dreams).

Also genuinely curious why these wouldn't work with a suit, although I'd probably go for the equivalent brogue or Oxford.

I find Florsheim shoes to be really comfortable, but they're a US brand and not readily available over here. I reckon I find them comfy because they seem to fit me really well, so if you find a brand that fits you well (and has consistent sizing) it might be worth sticking with them!

is my go-to for more formal looking shoes - I hate new shoes as they always take ages for me to break in and cause no end of problems.

These are pretty much the only formal-ish shoes that I have bought that work first time.

Clarks are my go to, last ages, take endless abuse, cope well with driving and polish up lovely.

£100 will get you long lasting comfy shoes that you can wear everywhere, I do, beach, walking, watching kids rugby in the mud, then get home, wipes clean, polish back up and go to work!

Mrs D thinks I'm odd because I don't feel the need to have fecking walking boots on the beach or in a field, I'm not climbing fecking Ben Nevis, normal shoes will do!

Get to high street and shove Amazon!

[Yes, I have worn them with a suit - trousers correct length though!]

Completely agree with this.

If you go to one of their Outlet Stores you can normally get somethingd ecent for about 35% off (IRO £65). My wife recently bought me a new pair of these but my previous pair are still going strong after 4 years.

Oxfords and Derbys are the go to with suits although as George says about Derbys are less formal. Some examples below of well made shoes from decent makers

Everyone will have their view on which makers are better than which. The one I really shy away from is Trickers as I always think they look a bit "special"

Barkers
Oxfords - https://www.barkershoes.com/products/malvern-black...
Derbys - https://www.barkershoes.com/collections/mens-derby...

Crocket and Jones
Oxfords - https://www.crockettandjones.com/collections/mens-...
Derbys - https://www.crockettandjones.com/collections/mens-...

Cheaney
Oxfords - https://www.cheaney.co.uk/alfred-capped-oxford-in-...
Derbys - https://www.cheaney.co.uk/old-classic-derby-in-bla...

Loake
Oxfords - https://www.loake.com/product/trinity-onyx-black/
Derbys - https://www.loake.com/product/747-black/

Trickers
Oxfords - https://trickers.com/collections/town-shoes/produc...
Derbys - https://trickers.com/collections/mens-derbys/produ...

A bit more relaxed / unusual

Jeffery West
Oxfords - https://www.jeffery-west.co.uk/jefferywest/product...
Derbys - https://www.jeffery-west.co.uk/jefferywest/product...

Oliver Sweeney
Oxfords - https://www.oliversweeney.com/products/yarford-bla...

If you have a good budget

Graziano and Girling

I’ve got a pair of these Ecco Derby style.

https://gb.ecco.com/en-GB/product/5643365098/ECCO-...

Was never a big fan of plastic soled shoes, but needed a pair for work meetings in Oslo and Stockholm, which often involved walking across the city with lots of snow, ice and grit around, so these were practical and smart enough to wear with a suit.

Good for all day comfort too.
